How can I make a reservation for my cat to stay at The Lodge?

You can make a reservation in the following ways:

  • By calling The Lodge at 813-986-2226 during our regular business hours. Our office staff will be glad to assist you in any way and answer any questions you might have.
  • By coming in person to The Lodge during our regular hours. We welcome you to visit
The Lodge for a tour, Tuesday - Saturday. View tour days and times. There will be no tours given on a Tuesday, should a Tuesday fall on the day after a major Holiday such as Memorial Day and Labor Day.

When can I bring my Cat to The Lodge after a reservation has been made?

Cats will be admitted any time during our regular business hours. Check the Contact Us section for our lobby hours. You must have a reservation for your cats. No walk-ins can be accepted. No cats will be admitted or released after our regular business hours so we encourage you to be on time. Final check-in is ½ hour before our regular closing time. This will allow us to get your cat acclimated to his or her new surroundings before the business office closes. During Holidays and school vacation times, the lobby can become very busy with many admissions, especially close to closing time. We ask that you allow additional time for check-in procedures during those busy times. We require all cats coming into The Lodge for admission to be in a secure carrier. The lobby may be busy and there may be dogs present. Although we have many seating areas to choose from, the presence and sounds of dogs may be upsetting to your cat.

What forms do I need to fill out before my cat is admitted to The Lodge?

Having all the necessary paperwork signed and filled out will help to reduce the time necessary to check-in your cat. The are five necessary forms:

  1. Proof of vaccination signed by your veterinarian (needs to be updated when vaccination boosters are given).
  2. The client information/cat profile sheet(filled out only once). For multiple cats, only the cat information and profile sections need to be filled out for each additional cat boarding with us. You do not have to fill out the client information for each cat.
  3. Owner Agreement (which needs to be updated yearly).
  4. New Client Reservation Request Form
  5. Returning Client Reservation Request Form
  6. Additional Activities Request Form

All of these forms are available on our web site except for the vaccination certificate. The vaccination certificate is available from your veterinarian. Your veterinarian can fax the certificate to our office prior to your cat’s admission date. If your cat is up-to-date on vaccinations and has recently boarded with us, it will not be necessary to bring in a vaccination certificate each time you return to The Lodge. Returning clients need only to fill out the Reservation Request and the Additional Activities forms with each visit.

What Vaccinations does my cat need before his or her visit to The Lodge?

For the health and safety of all our feline guests, we require all cats be up-to-date on the following vaccinations. We will accept 1 or 3 year vaccinations for FVR-CP and Rabies, depending on your veterinarian’s recommendation. Because your cat will be exposed to an environment with other cats, The Lodge at New Tampa recommends a yearly booster for feline distemper and upper respiratory disease even though the vaccine may be good for 3 years.

  • FVR-CP – 1 or 3 year
  • Rabies - 1 or 3 year
  • Feline Leukemia – not required but recommended yearly

Vaccinations must by given by a licensed veterinarian. We will not accept vaccinations given by owners (even if they are a nurse or physician) or by breeders. It is the responsibility of you the owner, to ensure your cat’s vaccinations are up-to-date. We reserve the right to deny admission to any cat that is not up-to-date on the required vaccinations.

Does my cat have to be spayed and neutered?

All cats over the age of 6 months of age should be spayed and neutered. We cannot accept male cats over the age of six months who have not been neutered due to the spraying tendencies of intact male cats.

What will my cat be fed while boarding at The Lodge?

We use, Natural Balance, a very high quality food as our staple diet at The Lodge. If you want your cat to receive the same food that you feed your cat at home, we ask you to bring in pre-labeled baggies containing the EXACT amount of dry food you wish us to feed your cat. Canned or any other type of food that might require refrigeration should also be labeled with your cat’s name and your last name. Example - “Samantha” Brown.

If you prepare your cat’s meal in a special way, please write down specific instructions
so that your cat can enjoy its mealtime just as if he or she were at home. If your cat is to be fed more than once daily, please take that into consideration when calculating the amount of food necessary for your cat’s stay. If The Lodge food is used, there is no additional charge for food. Unfortunately we cannot accept water bowls from home.

What if my cat needs medication?

We realize the importance of your cat receiving its medication while you are away. We ask that you bring the exact number of pills that will be needed during your cat’s stay plus one extra just in case we need an extra pill. Place the medication in a pre-labeled baggy marked with you cat’s name, your last name, the medication name and the EXACT instructions for administering the medicine. Please include the time of day to give the medicine and the number of times per day your cat is to receive the medication. Giving cats oral medications can be difficult at best. We will make every effort to make sure your cat receives his or her medication. There is no guarantee we can medicate all cats. There will be a $8.00 charge per dose to give cats oral medication.

If your cat is diabetic and needs insulin injections, our medical staff will be glad to give the necessary insulin. Please bring in a labeled bottle of insulin with specific instructions as to the number of units to be given and at what time of day to give the insulin. You will also need to bring the proper number of syringes. The charge to administer insulin is $8.00 per dose.

Once a day $3.00 per medicine

Twice a day $2.50 each/ dose = $5.00 per medicine

3 x daily $2.50 each/dose = $7.50 per medicine

What do I bring and what not to bring?

You may bring up to 2 toys from home. Toys should be made of cloth or another washable material. Our cat condos are supplied with a designer bed, designed just for cats. We cannot be responsible for lost or destroyed toys. Please remember to use a secure carrier when transporting your cat. Cats usually do not like to ride in cars and can escape very easily if not in a secure carrier. Having someone else in the car holding your cat is not a replacement for a secure carrier. All carriers should be labeled with your cat’s name and your last name. Many carriers look alike so it is mandatory that you label your carrier. Your carrier can stay with your cat in our cattery, until you return for your cat’s departure.

When can I pick up my cat?

There will be no charge assessed on departure day for your cat. Boarding charges are calculated per night. However, we kindly ask that you pick up your cat from boarding no later than 1 hour before closing. If you are boarding a dog as well as a cat, standard check-out policy of 1pm during the week will apply to your dog only. If pick-up is on a Sunday.

The appropriate overnight charge will be added to your cat’s boarding account. All charges relating to boarding and grooming must be paid in full before your cat will be released from The Lodge. If someone other than yourself will be picking up your cat, we will need their name and phone number given to us prior to your cat’s release as we cannot authorize a cat to be released to anyone other than the owner unless we are previously notified by the owner. Although you the owner will not be picking up your cat, all charges relating to your cat’s stay must still be paid in full before release.

We will not accept payment over the phone, nor do we keep your credit card information on file. For this reason, we ask that you pre-pay or leave a payment for another party if you will not be picking up your pet.
